I know of several Christians who occassionally use drugs/alcohol, and some are even addicted to drugs/alcohol. Scripture more than makes it clear about the consequences of such things so we dont need to review those scriptures for the sake of this particular thread unless relevant. I would like to see what scripture tells us about what Christ's approach might be specifically regarding 'treatment' for drug addiction and what a likely scenario might be.
I dont think it's news to any of us that Christians all around us have drug/alcohol problems. Statistics tell us that as high as 8-12% of the general population has these types of problems which means as many as 1 out of 10 people in the seats next to us in church/biblestudy/sunday school etc may be drug/alcohol addiction problems. I rarely hear preachers address this issue in a direct way but often in an indirect way but labeling it as sin.
What would Christ's approach be with the addict"
